Faculty

Community engagement at Oakland University is a collaboration with a community partner for the mutually beneficial exchange of knowledge and resources.

All community engagement work at OU is based on the three elements of the traditional university mission: research, teaching and service. In research, this might result in a faculty member generating a publication, professional report, invention, patent or any other type of output that provides demonstrated value to the community. Teaching encompasses internships and experiential learning opportunities, as well as outreach to community partners and the general public on and off campus with public events, workshops and continuing education. Service includes volunteering, conducting seminars to community groups, consulting for community agencies and serving as an expert for the media. There are a multitude of ways to get involved. Get started by contacting engagewithOU@hotelparacaes.net.

In short, community engagement is about making a difference in communities and on campus. Already involved in community engagement? We want to gather your stories to help support and share your work around campus through news and marketing. Share your community work with us.
